Do you want enemy mecha??? I have a scoop for you -

Sorji.jpg

While in Japan I spoke with a representative of a company that is planning to produce the Inbit Gosu in Japan (that’s an Invid Commander mech).  There weren’t any pictures made available at the time but I know the company has obtained the lineart and done all the research and intends to create this mecha in approximately 1/48 to 1/55 scale.  This is early in the toy development phase so please don’t ask about a date the toy might be released as I don’t think that’s on anyone’s radar just yet.  The would-be manufacturer is actively seeking feedback from potential customers so here’s your chance to let them know your thoughts on the matter so leave a comment!

They are currently considering making three variations of the toy:

1) Batra’s (Corg’s) Green and Orange unit

2) Sorji’s (Sera’s) Purple and Pink-ish unit

3) The standard unit of Navy Blue and White (or light gray)

The standard unit is seen at the battle for Reflex Point and is probably best known for the blonde pilot who gets thoroughly decimated by an angry Ray (Rand) in the pilot’s seat of the Tread (Beta) in the Synchro Cannon episode.

This toy is being designed with budget in mind and is not intended to be the wallet buster most Mospeada products have been.  I can’t really comment more as to the design but hopefully we’ll be hearing more soon.

Here are the questions they would like to see discussed: Would you be interested in buying this Inbit figure or any other Inbit figure?  Which color scheme(s) are you most likely to purchase?  Would you prefer being able to buy one toy individually or would you prefer a bundle set featuring all three toys (with a discount of some form in comparison to what the cost would be individually).  If you find my site’s comment system overly clunky feel free to bring this topic to toy forums (but do link back here).

I think its great that a company is producing some enemy mecha. Like Macross there is not enough enemy mecha produced. They should not be over priced. If I was going to buy one it would be the standard tropper type.

I would buy any and all invid mechs as long as they matched my masterpiece alphas in detail and scale so they looked correct/realistic when displayed together. No bright paint schemes! Please use dirty and flat paint styles so they look more sinister and military! (even dirty up the pink of Sera’s mech)

    Other thoughts . . .

    • Need to be more durable than the Toynami MPC Alphas

    • Prefer 3 sep packages and love the book style packing best

    • The missile pods need to open

    • A brownish translucent cockpit with barely visible pilot would be a plus

The commander model is ideal financially for the company as it will give them 3 versions from one mold. I pray they all sell well! If they do and we as fans get lucky enough to have the shock troopers and scouts made – please make only only variation and allow the guns to be removed for the different versions. In other words, sell one version of the shock trooper with removable guns, like the new Regult battle pod. The red scout could come with removable guns and the space booster!

Sounds like it was an exciting trip! Thanks for the hot news . . .

I think its a great idea! In the interest of cost, however – but also keeping in mind the rather organic overall design of the machine – I’d suggest that it be a sofubi product (hollow vinyl construction).

I’d be happy with any color combination, but the more muted trooper gray/blue type would probably suit my Mospeada & 80s real-type collection better.

I’d also be even more pleased with Eagers and Grabs, especially if they were sofubi items!

    Yes I would buy them.
Yes I would buy One of each color.
No, I would like to buy them one at a time so my wallet is not hit so hard.

Now that’s a way to come back from the land of the rising sun.
    Thanks for the scoop.

Welcome back! Just got done watching Mospeada (for the first time in it’s uncut/japanese version) so this is great news. =)

Sorry for the double post, but here is the answers to the questions:

Would you be interested in buying this Inbit figure or any other Inbit figure? Yes, very interested!

Which color scheme(s) are you most likely to purchase? The standard unit of Navy Blue and White (or light gray). Of course, I’d purchase them all, but only if the price is right. =)

Would you prefer being able to buy one toy individually or would you prefer a bundle set featuring all three toys? Depends on the price. I think individually would be cool.

I would buy these in a heartbeat, as long as they were: 1/48 scale (same size as CMs Legioss/Tread set) and came with cool features (like opening cockpits with mini pilot figures) to make up for the fact that the toy doesn’t transform. I would buy them as a set or individually–doesn’t really matter to me, as long as they are made!! I would also LOVE other Inbit mecha as well! Bring ‘em ALL on!

Would you be interested in buying this Inbit figure or any other Inbit figure?

I would DEFINATELY be interested in this figure. I also have an interrest in any other inbit mecha, right down to the human sized soldier armour.

Which color scheme(s) are you most likely to purchase?

I would probably grab one of each however Battlar’s would be my first choice.

Would you prefer being able to buy one toy individually or would you prefer a bundle set featuring all three toys (with a discount of some form in comparison to what the cost would be individually).

    Individual purchases would be preferable.

Thanks for the news and your efforts!

I’m in the market for all Invid mecha if it’s true to the original design and has good poseability and durability. As for gimmicks and accessories, all that’s included in the anime and is considered a “given” by most japanese companies (opening cockpit, removable pilot, detailed missile bays, weapons and booster packs, swiveling ankle joint, moving fingers).

As a consumer I prefer the toys to be packaged individually with the option of buying all three versions as a bundle with a discount (Sometimes you have the money for the whole set and sometimes you have to buy them invidually).

YES YES YES! Inbit/Invid commander mecha!!!

I will have both Batra’s/Corg’s and Sorji’s/Sera Mecha in 1/55 scale please, to go with my CM Legioss and Tread. :-)

Posibly a third for a repaint as well.

    1/55 1/55 1/55 1/55 1/55 ! 1/48 is too big! ONLY 1/55.

It’s not like these are variable, but please do try to make the pilot compartment with figure inside.

I rate these Inbit mecha right up there with any Variable fighter like the Legioss (alpha) or even the VF-1 Valkyrie. They are just full of win and coolness.

Please don’t let this be vaporware guys.

    Where is my pre-order? :D

Honestly, I would buy Sera and Corg, but probably not the generic version. I think they should be sold seperately.

Yeah, an affordable Gosu would be a must-buy.
I’d certainly get the blue/standard scheme…in mulitples perhaps.
I imagine most people would want the “hero” green or purple Gosu, but I like the blue.

Of course, like many others I’d jump at any other inbit figures (a “batra box” might be cool, all 3 mecha he “evolved” into…or was he four?)
Regardless, Gamo, Gurab, Iigaa would be most welcome.

Sounds like a capital idea, I hope we can encourage them.

    Yes, and yes.

Which color scheme(s) are you most likely to purchase?

Any and all. (And I even have ideas for an Aisha color scheme if they want to contact me.)

Would you prefer being able to buy one toy individually or would you prefer a bundle set featuring all three toys (with a discount of some form in comparison to what the cost would be individually).

I’d buy the bundle set if it would save me money, but if they were only available individually, I’d still buy them all.

As far as features, etc. go, I’d just be happy with just a good sculpt of the mecha. Render it as a sofubi, like CM’s Corporation Hercules and Taisho labors and I’d be happy.

Absolutely AWESOME! Been dreaming about this Inbit mecha for ages! And its comes in so many different color schemes as well. Instant WIN for the company.

Now hopefully they also do enemy mecha to all other anime, the list is endless and some pple will even buy multiples to re-enact scenes from the anime. I’m hoping they could do the Marduk from Macross II (esp Feff’s machine!)

I want all Inbit/Invid mecha… to be like a big Revoltechs made with sturdy plastic like the Transformers use. If I am going to drop anywhere from $50 & up, if it’s like the Toynami Alphas with quality control, I’ll quickly change my mind.

I’d also like the line to span all the mechas… not just the Commanders, but the scout/armored scout and up. If the line is just a piece or 2 and only 1 mecha, then I might skip it. 1/60 or 1/55 scale too please… 1/48 is WAY to big for my taste, and space is an issue.

A year later… No word. I guess it might not have had that much interest. But I, for one, would still love some enemy mecha, especially for Mospeada. With Alphas, Betas, and Cyclones, there’s plenty of toys, but no bad guys to fight!

To answer the questions – I would buy all three (probably named characters first – Corg, Sera, then the generic one, in that order) individually or all three, doesn’t matter. But the best scale would be 1/55-ish – to fit with the existing Toynami Alpha/Betas.

Yes, I’m afraid this toy was likely the victim of the worldwide economic collapse. I haven’t heard many murmurs about it in quite a long time but I’ll hold out hope.
